A practical two-session masterclass exploring how to work effectively as part of a musical theatre ensemble.
Session 1 – Building the Ensemble
19 September 2026 | 1:30–3:30pmStudents will explore:
Creating an ensemble character
Making individual choices within a group
Listening and responding to other performers
Using voice, movement and performance to create a cohesive ensemble
Session 2 – Developing the Performance
3 October 2026 | 1:30–3:30pmStudents will put their work into practice, developing an ensemble performance and exploring how individual contributions can strengthen the overall performance.
There will be time between the two sessions for students to practise and develop their work.
What students will gain
Students will develop their understanding of ensemble performance, collaboration and character, while gaining practical experience of working as part of a musical theatre company.
About Andy Manning
Andy Manning is a lecturer in Singing and Music at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona and works as a Music Director, multi-instrumentalist, actor, arranger and sound designer. Andy brings professional performance and music direction experience into the classroom.
